I teach the 3 year olds turning 4 in our church.
They are so sweet, and cute, and fun.
My team teacher and I wanted to give them something for their birthday that let them know just how much we love them and enjoyed teaching them.
I searched high and low for the perfect gift.
It took a while but one day as I was walking through a book store I stumbled upon You Are Special, by Max Lucado in board book. I was so excited! This is what I had been searching for!
It was on sale so I knew it was meant for me and my Sunbeams!
You Are Special is about a village of people called The Wemmicks. The Wemmicks are small wooden people carved by a wood maker. They were all different in many ways; physical appearance, talents, accomplishments, etc. They each had a box of golden star stickers and gray dot stickers. They spent their days sticking stars or dots on each other. Punchinello is a Wemmick who tried his best but always ended up with dot stickers placed on him, and he started to believe he would never be worth anything. But everything changes when he visits Eli the woodcarver, his creator.
This beautiful book teaches children that they are precious in His sight!
I also created a printable of our class song to use as the birthday card.
We have enjoyed visiting each of our little Sunbeams in their homes and presenting them with this birthday gift.
We hope they enjoy this book as much as we do and know just how special they are!
