Home Again, Home Again Jiggity Jig! Some of Our Crazy Stories from Vacation

We have returned from 3 weeks of vacation at Granny and Poppy's House!

The kids love vacation.
I love vacation.

Three weeks of fun in the sun, and then the return home is always welcome.

It's nice to get back to real life with a routine and sleeping in our own beds.
You know that kind of stuff.
And we always miss daddy like crazy (someday he'll have enough vacation days to go with us, right?!?).

Having said that, there are some things that make returning home less pleasant.
We miss our every day playing with cousins.
We miss home cooked meals by mom.
We miss leisurely days with very little cleaning, and very little planning.

The relaxed take each day as it comes life.

So now it's the transition from vacation to real life again.
Mom has to adjust.
Kids have to adjust.
And let's be honest, it can get ugly.

Mom is exhausted and cranky.
The unpacking is overwhelming.
The dirty house is overwhelming.
The planning is back in full swing.

Kids are exhausted and cranky.
They aren't excited to be sleeping in their own beds.
The are on a sugar detox.
They miss their best friends, their cousins.

Am I the only mother who has these feelings after returning from vacation?

So, today, instead of dealing with any of those real life problems I will share some crazy stories from our trip to Kentucky and vacation with Leilani and her crew!

Tree climbing was popular by the older boys until B slipped. He appeared to be suspended in mid air.
Somehow the tree bark clung to his clothes saving his life.
There wasn't much tree climbing after that.

Granny got her fill with the 4 older little's as she was vacuuming the pool and they were swimming.
They were working on their olympic jumps when they got too brave and tried doing them backwards.
Poor Cam Spam became the victim of a misbegotten, backwards cannonball.
He caught his chin on the side of the swimming pool.
Granny heard the ruckus and was sure that somebody had broken their neck.
No more backwards anything for those 4 monsters, and thankfully Cam Spam came away with nothing more than a bruised chin and battered ego.

Mack Attack became better known as the "butterfly slayer."
She packed around her bug box and loved those poor innocent bugs to death.
She caught over 20 "butterflies." She named each of them and talked to them until they fell asleep to never wake up again.

Poppy spent all his time charging batteries for the Jeeps. Those kids ran the plastic off the wheels.
There were many close calls.
Little Miss dangled precariously out the passenger side door causing Leilani to take flight.
She literally flew across the yard to rescue her littlest.
At that point wise adults imposed a speed limit for the Jeeps.

So… our annual, three week Kentucky vacation is over. We are back to our real lives. It's a painful process after three weeks to get back in the swing of real life but we do always feel thankful and very blessed when we "make it out" with no broken bones or head injuries and our sanity still intact.

Today the party is over but we feel so loved and now we can cherish the memories of fun and family which leaves us with a little glimpse of a glorious eternity.
